A 29-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning after an alleged DUII and hit and run incident, according to a release from Springfield Police Department.

Just before 1:30 a.m., Aug. 16, officers were called to a report of a serious vehicle accident in the area of 6th and Main Streets in Downtown Springfield.

Several people called to report the accident, and saw the driver, identified as Noah Nelson Eiler, 29, of Springfield, fleeing on foot down Main St.

Police say Eiler had driven his vehicle through light posts and a fire hydrant, and abandoned the vehicle in the middle of the two lanes prior to fleeing.

Officers located Eiler a short time later at the Brickhouse Gentlemen’s Club, located about three blocks away from the scene of the accident.

Eiler was taken to an area hospital for treatment of a possible broken nose, then taken to jail. His vehicle was totaled, and Main St. was closed for about one hour and twenty minutes while public works crews cleared the roadway.
