Early morning Sutherlin traffic stop leads to arrest of man on heroin, meth possession charges

A 23-year-old man was arrested on drug possession and other charges Friday morning, according to a release from the Sutherlin Police Department.

At about 1:45 a.m., July 14, a Sutherlin Police Officer saw Joseph R. Trahan, 23, driving on Hutchings St. and asked dispatch to check for warrants and driving status.

The officer learned Trahan had warrants from Roseburg and Jackson County.

A traffic stop was initiated at the Shell station and detained Trahan on the warrants.

As Trahan was being searched, he told the officer he had a heroin “tooter” on him, which was located by the officer along with some heroin.

A subsequent search of the vehicle Trahan was driving revealed three methamphetamine pipes with residue.

Trahan is lodged in Douglas County Jail on the warrants, and methamphetamine and heroin possession charges.
