La Pine traffic stop leads to seizure of over 5 pounds of cocaine

A 58-year-old Washington man was arrested Thursday during a traffic stop near La Pine after a search led to the discovery of 5.2 pounds of cocaine, according to a release from the Oregon State Police (OSP).

At about 4:22 p.m., an OSP trooper initiated a traffic stop on a 2006 Porsche Cayenne traveling northbound on U.S. 97 on suspicion of multiple traffic violations.

The trooper observed several criminal indicators during the stop, and received consent from the driver of the Porsche, Moises Sanchez-Alcaraz, 58, of Mattawa, Wash.

The search of the Porsche yielded 5.2 pounds of cocaine, which police say has a street value of over $67,000.

Sanchez-Alcaraz is lodged in Deschutes County Jail on charges of delivery and possession of cocaine.
