Lincoln City man arrrested after leading deputy on pursuit and crashing vehicle

A 31-year-old Lincoln City man was arrested early Thursday after leading a deputy on a pursuit and crashing his vehicle, according to a release from Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 12:47 a.m. a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a 2003 black Dodge Durango on N. Northbank Rd. near Otis.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as William Ray McGinnis, 31, of Lincoln City, failed to stop, and allegedly attempted to elude capture.

McGinnis lost control of the vehicle after failing to negotiate a curve while speeding in the 400 block of Yodel Lane, leading the vehicle to strike a ditch, then spin and roll over into the yard of an adjoining property.

A K-9 was deployed, which led to the surrender of McGinnis.

McGinnis was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries to his hand, then taken to Lincoln County Jail on charges of felony attempt to elude police and reckless driving. He also was arrested on warrants issued in June 2017 by Marion County and the Oregon Parole Board.
