The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is seeking the public’s help locating a 73-year-old man reported missing in Salem Saturday afternoon.

At about 5 p.m., July 15, MCSO fielded a report from the family of Richard Carpenter, 73, who had left a residence in the 4000 block of Wyant Ct. NE in Salem around 8 a.m., and had not returned.

Carpenter is a California resident who had come to Salem Friday night to live with his family, and to receive medical treatment, according to MCSO.

Carpenter’s family is concerned for his safety due to his having numerous health conditions.

Carpenter is a white male standing 5’9″ tall and weighs about 100 pounds. He has grey hair, blue eyes and wears glasses. Carpenter was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black belt and an unknown color plaid shirt. He drives a 2008 black Cadillac SRX, bearing California license plate number 6BAN631.

It is reported Carpenter has no access to money, and his cell phone has been shut off.
