Medford Police arrest 11 men accused of patronizing prostitutes during undercover sting

Medford Police (MPD) arrested 20 individuals during a late May undercover sex trafficking sting, of which eleven are accused of patronizing a prostitute, according to a release from MPD.

MPD, along with the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement Team (MADGE), conducted an undercover operation in late May to address online sex trafficking in the area.

Ads were posted online on websites and apps by investigators, and investigators also responded to ads on the same platforms.

Police say two strategies were utilized in this operation. The first was to target the individuals seeking sex from prostitutes online, and the second was seeking females online who are soliciting sex from individuals in exchange for money.

The sting was conducted at area hotels, the names of which were not disclosed by police.

The eleven men arrested, then cited on a charge of patronizing a prostitute are the following:

• Lahr, Derek Sternal 34 Grants Pass
• Prevedel, Ryan Henry 39 Eagle Point
• Smith, Christopher Edward 48 Ashland
• Lavell, Robert Samuel 28 Medford
• Rahal, Iqbal “Jay” Singh 37 Medford
• Dougherty, Daniel 35 Jacksonville
• Tastaca, Jashua Kevin 24 Wilderville
• Balagtas, June Ceasar Emata 21 Central Point
• Garcia-Riquiz, Sergio 37 Medford
• Courtney, William Jon 52 Medford
• Boardman, Kenneth Douglas 29 Medford

Additionally, seven females also responded to the hotel to meet with investigators and were charged with prostitution. However, as police believe they are involved in organized sex trafficking from outside the area, they were not identified due to the ongoing investigation.

Two men were arrested for compelling prostitution and other charges. They are Lafayette Toney, 35, of Stockton, Calif., and Anterion Dante Lavar Suggs, 29, of Sacramento.
