Newport man accused of assaulting woman while she was holding infant

A 24-year-old Newport man was arrested on multiple charges after assaulting the mother of his child and fighting with police, according to a press release from Newport Police.

At about 12:20 a.m., Nov. 13, officers were called to a reported domestic incident in the 400 block of NW Brook.

The victim, and neighbors, told police the suspect, Trevor J. Hull, 24, of Newport, was intoxicated and had allegedly assaulted the victim as she was holding their 5-month-Old child. Hull also reportedly made verbal threats toward the victim.

Police attempted to detain Hull, who, according to police, began to fight with officers. Following a prolonged struggle, Hull was detained, but police say he continued yelling, and also kicked the inside of the patrol vehicle and head-butted a window.

Hull was arrested and taken to Lincoln County Jail on charges of fourth-degree assault (felony), resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, menacing, harassment, third-degree criminal mischief and assault on a public safety officer.
