Police arrest man on DUII charge after crashing vehicle through South Salem bar

A 29-year-old Salem man is in jail after reportedly driving a Subaru Forester early this morning through a bar in South Salem, which came to a stop completely inside the bar.

Police say Daniel Leonard Wise, 29, of Salem, left the Triangle Inn at 3215 Liberty Rd. S. at about 12:15 a.m., May 3, and after leaving, crashed a 2015 Subaru Forester through the wall of the bar, and coming to a rest with the vehicle completely inside the establishment.

Although Wise was uninjured, he was assisted by other bar patrons in exiting the vehicle. Another person sustained minor injuries, and was treated and released at an area hospital.

Wise is lodged in Marion County Jail on charges of DUII, reckless driving, eight counts of recklessly endangering another person, first-degree criminal mischief and a felony charge of failure to perform the duties of a driver involved in an injury accident.

Damages have not been estimated yet, and police are continuing to investigate the incident.
