Portland woman arrested on child sex trafficking charges

A 21-year-old Portland woman was arrested Monday on allegations related to child sex trafficking, according to a release from the Portland Police Bureau (PPB).

On July 31, Beaverton Police received information concerning a female juvenile, who was reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, was being trafficked in the Portland area. The victim is from another state.

Investigation revealed the victim was in an apartment complex in the 8200 block of NE Sandy Blvd. Authorities made contact with the victim, and found her to be in the company of Shanell N. Rix, 21, of Portland.

Information obtained during the investigation led police to arrest Nix, who was taken to Multnomah County Jail on charges of compelling prostitution, promoting prostitution and attempt using child in display of sexually explicit act.

The victim was taken back home.
