A 30-year-old registered sex offender was arrested Saturday on multiple charges, according to a release from Toledo Police.
On June 11 at 2:10 a.m., a Toledo Police officer saw a brand new Honda Civic traveling without its taillights on. The vehicle was located shortly thereafter in an apartment complex with the motor running and headlights on.
The officer contacted the occupant of the vehicle, Grant Thomas Eason, 30, of Newport, who told the officer he had borrowed the vehicle from a friend. However, Eason was unable to remember the friend’s name.
Deputies from Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office assisted the officer, and made contact with the name of the individual listed on the bill of sale paperwork Eason provided.
Police determined the individual did not purchase the vehicle, is a victim of identity theft and burglary.
Eason was previously arrested Mar. 24 for failure to register as a sex offender.
He is lodged in Lincoln County Jail on charges of first-degree burglary, first-degree aggravated theft, aggravated identity theft, first-degree forgery, theft by deception, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and third-degree theft.
