On November 23, 2018 at approximately 3:42 AM, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a male subject attempting to enter a residence in the 83600 block of N Harvey Rd, Creswell. The initial 911 call was made by the female resident saying that a male was coming through her window and was taken outside by her roommate. A second call was received from a male resident at the address advising he had hit the male with an ax. Lane County Deputies and Oregon State Police responded to the area and contacted the residents; they also contacted the male who had been hit with an ax a distance away.
During the investigation, Deputies found that the male who was originally attempting to enter the house was a local transient who believed he was attempting to enter a friend’s house while speaking with the friend on the phone. The friend was found to live several doors down from the involved address. The residents of the involved address confronted the male after he left and attempted to re-enter the property. The transient male made movements toward the resident that caused him to fear he was charging him, and the transient was hit with the ax in the process, sustaining a wound to his arm. The transient male was transported to the emergency room and treated for a non-life threatening injuries.
No charges have been filed at this time and the case has been sent to the Lane County District Attorney’s Office for review.
