Junction City, Ore. – On July 18, 2018 the Lane County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft that occurred on July 15th at a wedding in Junction City. A gift box containing cash, gift cards, checks, and other gifts for the newly married couple was reportedly taken sometime on the evening of their wedding.
Three additional reports were later made to the Sheriff’s Office, each involving the theft of similar items at three separate weddings in the Junction City area on July 28, 2018. Personal property belonging to some of the guests was also stolen, including motorcycle helmets and a motorcycle jacket.
Investigation and tips from community members identified 42 year old Brian Keith Starr as a suspect. Deputies contacted Starr multiple times over the phone on August 2nd in an attempt to interview him.
Starr was arrested at the Lane County Sheriff’s Office late on the afternoon of August 2nd and was lodged at the Lane County Jail on Theft in the First Degree x 3, Theft in the Second Degree, Theft in the Third Degree, Felon in Possession of a Weapon, and Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine.
Personal property that was stolen from one of the weddings that occurred on July 28th has already been returned to two victims. This case is still being investigated and it is unknown if there are additional victims from the above listed events or other similar events.
