A man is in custody after allegedly stabbing another man in West Eugene just before 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
Just prior to 8 a.m., Eugene Police officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 4100 block of Dove Ave. The caller reported his friend had been stabbed by another man, whom the friend was acquainted with.
The victim, whose name is withheld at this time, was tended to by Eugene-Springfield Fire Department personnel and taken to an area hospital. He underwent surgery and is reported to be in stable condition.
Additional citizens in the vicinity of Hughes St. and Wood Ave. called EPD concerning a suspicious male subject, and officers located the subject and detained him. The subject was reported to be in possession of a large knife.
Officers also located property and clothing that the suspect had carried from the scene of the stabbing.
The suspect has been identified as Jacob Adam Baughman, 21. He is booked in Lane County Jail on charges of first-degree assault and possession of methamphetamine.
